A recent diagnosis, a current condition worsening or an unexpected accident can be some of the reasons in which you may find yourself requiring driving aids and vehicle adaptations for the first time. So, we understand that starting the process of adapting your car can often feel quite daunting and overwhelming.

Where do you start?

Contact a vehicle adaptation installer

The best place to start is by getting in touch with your local vehicle adaptations installer. We have a network of installers throughout the UK so you can find you nearest branch here.

Decide on your adaptations 

The next step is to figure out what driving aids and adaptations you need.

With the AIC, there’s no need to spend hours trawling through and researching all the different driving adaptations available due to our free product assessment and demonstration service.

Our free product demonstration service allows you to view our range of adaptations available and try them out for yourselves. We can then also assess your individual requirements and tailor the right package for you so you can enjoy the safest and most comfortable driving experience.

Order and fitting

Once you’re happy with the selection of adaptations, you’ll need to place the order for them. This step will differ slightly depending on if you’re going through Motability or are a direct customer.

Motability – The adaptations installer will liaise directly with the car dealership of your choice to ensure the adaptations are ordered correctly. Here at the AIC we will do this and then arrange the installation process through your car dealership.

Direct customer -The adaptations installer will order the adaptations and pre-arrange a fitting date with yourself. At the AIC, we can arrange to install the adaptations either at one of our workshops or carry out a mobile install at your convenience.

Vehicle handover 

The last step is to collect your newly adapted vehicle! If you choose us, we will run through the full operating instructions with you so that you can be 100% confident with your new driving controls and continue to enjoy the freedom of car travel.
